My art practice functions as a visual journal and a way to daydream. My paintings are personal interpretations of my own symbols and symbolic meanings. These images and icons represent an interpersonal narrative that reveals connections between my own challenges and creative solutions. I start my artwork by journaling and sketching streams of consciousness, doodles and thoughts, then I pick an image that I intuitively feel strong about. I use an abstract wash and an under painting to draw it on a canvas. My color palates are usually saturated and bright, and the subject matter childlike. My illustrative style and use of color is influenced by my cultural roots and my Mexican heritage.
