Each painting is done freehanded. I paint more intuitively with each rock/canvas. I hand select each rock from the rivers and beaches in the NW. I paint using brushes, dotting tools down to thumbtacks. The paint I use is acrylic paint that is thinned out just right so the dots have a texture to them more like a smooth candy dome. This creates a nice 3D effect. Dotting takes time, patience and a focused mind. It is one of the hardest and most rewarding art forms I have done. Each painting takes extreme focuses a sort of meditation. I have been inspired by the monks in Tibet and how they paint using more of a meditation to there works as well as the Emily Kame Kngwarreye a aboriginal Australian artist.
