My name is Adrian Govela (he/him), but I go professionally by Govi (Goh - Vee). I am a self-taught artist who works primarily in an abstract expressionist style, most often with acrylic paint, but occasionally with oil paint. I like to put as much energy as I can into the process, throwing paint at the canvas with all my force. Chaos is my no. 1 friend.
My painting style is heavily inspired by Lee Krasner, Jackson Pollock, and Cezanne among many others. The majority of my abstract-art-theory knowledge comes from Wassily Kandinsky and Piet Mondrian.
My color choices are usually partially planned out in advance. I start by picking whatever color first comes to mind, and then use what I've learned from my studies to pick some compliments and tweak them as needed as I go along. I mix all my colors from whatever paints I've managed to grab from Scrap PDX (therefore I usually try to grab primaries), and add water or gel medium to change the consistency as I go.
Thank you for taking the time to read my statement! Please feel free to reach out and ask me any questions you might have!
