My name is Adrian Govela (he/him), but I go professionally by Govi (Goh - Vee). I am a self-taught artist who works primarily in an abstract expressionist style, most often with acrylic paint, but occasionally with other misc media mixed in. I love making vibrant and energetic paintings that a person can get lost in. Chaos is my no. 1 friend, regardless of which style i choose.
My painting style is heavily inspired by Lee Krasner, Mark Rothko, and Cy Twombly, among many others. The majority of my abstract-art-theory knowledge comes from Wassily Kandinsky and Piet Mondrian.
My color choices are usually partially planned out in advance. I start by picking whatever color first comes to mind, and then use what I've learned from my studies to pick some compliments and tweak them as needed as I go along. I tend to go for highly pigmented, vibrant paints. I have also began working with raw pigment powder.
Thank you for taking the time to read my statement! Please feel free to reach out and ask me any questions you might have!
