Aaron John Arlinghaus,
Custom leather belts, cuffs, suspenders, guitar straps, messenger bags.
I've been designing and handcrafting custom leather accessories for 10 years. I first learned leather craft as an apprentice with a master sandal maker in the Finger Lakes Region of New York. Recently, I moved my studio to Portland from Ithaca, NY, and have set up in the Alberta Arts District. I primarily build my collections with vegetable tanned cowhide, which includes a variety of saddle leathers. The combination of saddle leather and solid brass hardware produces a classic piece that will age beautifully over many years. I enjoy carving and hand dyeing leather to produce one of a kind pieces. Natural elements such as antlers and semi precious stones make their way into my designs. Vintage and custom bronze buckles outfit my one of a kind pieces. I employ the traditional leather craft techniques in which I was trained, stitching and riveting all my work by hand. I make each piece to order, working with my clients to find the perfect cut, color, and fit. My collection includes cuffs, belts, suspenders, guitar straps, handbags, messenger bags, satchels, and brief cases for both men & women.
