Unemployment benefits for self employed under Cares Act
A new benefit for self- employed individuals (artists included) under the Cares Act provides unemployment benefits to the self employed. Under the Cares Act individuals will receive unemployment plus an additional $600 due to Covid 19.
you can apply at: https://www.oregon.gov/employ/unemployment/pages/default.aspx
As unemployment claims have risen dramatically the State of Oregon has not been able to keep up. Their computers system is old & they are being overwhelmed. One will need to be persistent and filing online would be the best way to apply. Originally claims were being rejected if you were self employed as the states computers were programmed to deny.
But under the new ACT eligibility requirements changed. Supposedly the State was reprogramming their computer system to allow the new requirements.
