April Street Gallery Opening Delayed

Dear UAN Artists,

The opening of our 20th season will be delayed. The Portland Bureau of Transportation has determined our permit for April will not be issued.

In response to the statewide effort to stem the severity of the COVID-19 outbreak, today Governor Kate Brown has ordered that “All large gatherings over 250 people will be canceled statewide effective immediately for four weeks. A gathering is defined as any event in a space in which appropriate social distancing of a minimum of three feet cannot be maintained.”

As the First Thursday Street Gallery has an expected attendance in excess of 250 participants, April’s event permit will not be issued. The City of Portland will make a determination of the measures to be taken going forward once the impact of the COVID-19 has become more clear to define.  it is possible that this 4-week ban may be extended.

We are deeply disappointed to share this news. We will be keeping our Artists updated as we have new information. All of the Urban Art Network administration is run by volunteers and our organization is not typically able to offer refunds. If you are in a hardship situation and in need of an immediate refund for April please send an email to jennifer@urbanartnetwork.org If you are able to wait, we will work toward an equitable solution for the artists who have pre-paid for the event.

We wish you a healthy, happy April, and despite this delay remain excited to begin the 20th season of the First Thursday Street Gallery. We look forward to seeing there.

Thank you,
Urban Art Network
