Stephanie Hatch is a mixed media artist, currently working in Portland, OR. She has been exhibiting her work in Oregon and Northern California since 2001. In 2006 Stephanie received her BA in Art from Southern Oregon University where she focused on painting, drawing, and black and white photography. Stephanie's work addresses ideas of identity, beauty, and transformation with a love for nature and women. She tackles her subject matter through collage, drawing, painting, double exposure photography, embroidery on paper, and any combination therein. She blends the sacred and profane to explore the unconscious connections between personal histories, stereotypes, myths, and societal expectations. While her works can be beautifully colored, dream-like, and often possess intricate patterns and detail, they also challenge our preconceived notions of how things “should be”, and create new realities for consideration.
